Even the most experienced shaver can cut himself on any given day. When this happens, you should reach for the Pacific Nick Stick. Unlike styptic pencils that leave an obvious white smear on your face, this clear liquid is a secret weapon against nicks and cuts. I had never heard of the brand until Lee's Safety Razors began to carry it and Lee asked me to try it out. I was skeptical and didn't expect it to be effective. The Pacific Nick Stick is a very small tube and has no noticeable scent. Its label is simple and it could be easily overlooked among anyone's toiletries. However, I quickly learned that its modest presence does not diminish its value as a critical part of my shaving supplies.

A few years ago, the Proraso brand from Italy became very well known among men starting wet shaving. Target stores in the United States began stocking Proraso items on their shelves giving shavers easy and affordable access to decent-quality, traditional wet shaving products. Many men who adopted the practice of traditional wet shaving tried the Proraso brand and still use it today. Unfortunately Target no longer stocks the brand, but it is still available from many retailers of specialty shaving goods.

Castle Forbes' offering in the aftershave line is probably their more traditional product out of their shaving triumvirate. Just because it is not as unique as their Pre-shave or shaving cream though does not mean it is not any less of a quality product.

Disregarding scent, all of the aftershave balms are completely alcohol free and are a thick balm which makes it easy to apply. Not unlike the pre-shave, you do not need very much product to get the job done at the end of the shave.

Musgo Real is one a well known traditional brand from Portugal that has been around for many years. Their products are priced very reasonably and easily perform on par with other traditional shaving products twice the retail price.
